Celebrity Lifeguard Maxi brings Bondi to Britain to save our kids this summer!
Straight off the beach from protecting swimmers at Bondi, Trent Maxwell (better known as Lifeguard Maxi from hit TV show Bondi Rescue) visited Stanhope Primary on Friday
He talked to the children about how to stay safe near water.
Maxi works as a full time firefighter in Sydney as well as a part time lifeguard and he gave the children lots of information on fire prevention.
“Drownings are on the increase and education is key,” Maxi says, “I want to get the message out to the UK kids before they hit the beach this summer and teach them what I know. If it saves one life the trip will have been worth it.”
Drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death in children in the UK. According to the RLSS UK, over 700 people drown annually; that equates to a death by drowning every 10 hours.
Maxi very kindly presented our weekly certificates to the children and signed autographs as well as the books the children purchased.
On Thursday 25th April 2019, members of our School Council took part in an Anzac Day Service at Kirkpatricks Statue in South Shields. They laid a wreath and along with other schools, read out the poem, Flanders Fields.
Afterwards, the children were invited to join the Mayor for lunch at the Town Hall, which they really enjoyed. The children were very well behaved and a credit to the school.
We have had a tremendous success in WINNING the South Tyneside Tennis Finals, held at Boldon LTA today and thus defending our title from 2017 & 2018.
Our 8 fantastic tennis players won 20, drew 4 and lost just 8 of their matches. Their hard work, dedication, enthusiasm and determination to succeed has certainly paid off.
They were winners with a total of 8.5 points, 2nd were Biddick Hall A 8 points and 3rd were East Boldon 6.5 points.
They, alongside our Athletics Team will now compete in the Tyne and Wear County Finals on June 27th at Silksworth Sports Complex in Sunderland.
A tremendous achievement. I’m simply delighted and proud of each and every child involved. Congratulations!
We are aware that it is coming up to ‘holiday season’ and we strongly advise that children attend school and have holidays in the allocated weeks. Holiday requests into school will be declined.
Last year we had 96.2% attendance which is above the national average. We constantly strive to better our yearly record and by doing this we have attendance rewards.
A big well done to all of the children who received 100% attendance in the Spring Term. We had a total of 61 children!! 💯 As a reward the children had an afternoon of magic! The children were amazed by some of the fantastic tricks and twists throughout the afternoon. The children were in Reception/KS1 and KS2 groups giving the perfect show for their age range. There was laughter all around!
We hope that the Summer Term has even more children with 100% attendance! ☀️
Nursery enjoyed a great morning and afternoon of crafty fun for the Easter Egg Decorating session. We had a great turn out of parents- thank you for your support. It was lovely to see so many fantastic ideas. Good luck everyone!
