At Stanhope Primary School we have adopted a blended approach to home Learning. The staff use Google Classroom to deliver work to pupils and as a method of communication between teacher during lockdown periods.

For Foundation Stage 1 children, daily online learning will be available on the Google Classroom and this is complimented with learning and resources from Purple Mash.

For the children in Reception they will also receive daily online learning that will be available on the Google Classroom, they will be asked to complete daily, phonics, mathematics, activities for their physical development including physical activities. In addition to this the children will also receive paper packs that complement their planned activities.

Children in Year 1- 6 will receive daily work set by their class teacher, again this will be available on the Google Classroom. Children will be expected to complete the work set by their teachers for English and Maths, as well as another subject, (eg History, Geography, Art, Science). Children will also be encouraged to follow a healthy lifestyle, by choosing healthy foods and taking part in some sort of physical activities.

Teachers and Teaching Assistants will contacts pupils on a weekly basis, this is to inquire about their general well-being and how they are managing when not being in school. In addition to this, classes will be invited, by their class teachers to join a Google Meet, allowing our children to meet other children in their classes virtually in a safe environment. In all Google Meets, 2 members of staff will always be present.

Children are able to email their class teachers directly during school hours and parents are also able to check the website and the school’s Facebook page to keep up to date with what is available.

We urge parents to ensure their children to complete the work set so children can continue with their learning.

From Monday 11th January, CBBC will be hosting a three-hour block of primary school programming from 9am everyday. This includes: BBC Live Lessons, BBC Bitesize Daily and other programmes such as Our School, Celebrity Supply Teacher, Horrible Histories, Art Ninja and Operation Ouch.

Also from Monday 11th January, Joe Wicks will be continuing his PE sessions on his YouTube Channel. These will be every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9am.
